Yes, this product is legitimately certified as pet food! It's government approved for pet food only!

Why? Well, raw milk is regulated like marijuana, state by state. And sadly, we can't send our raw milk labeled for humans outside of Pennsylvania. Gee, if we could get our raw milk certified for humans everywhere in the US, we sure would!

Plus -- raw milk can not only be a great addition to your diet but your pet's diet, too! They'll love lapping our milk on its own in a bowl. You can also add it to their regular food, pouring it on top of kibble or wet food.

*Dairy shouldn't be a staple food for cats and dogs. Being carnivores (or nearly carnivores), raw meat is their essential food. Use dairy as a treat or mix in with their other food for a limited period. It's a great source of moisture and probiotics!

After you receive it, our raw milk should last about 2 weeks in the fridge until it becomes too sour to palate. Every jug comes with a best by date on the cap to help guide you. But, of course, once it's opened there are so many variables that can affect shelf life (contaminants getting in, etc).

Yes, raw milk can be frozen. We recommend freezing it when very fresh, just after you receive it. We also recommend freezing for no more than 6 months (the longer it's frozen, the more probiotic loss). One last thing to keep in mind is that some may notice a change in flavor when thawed. So it's always good to so a small test before committing to freezing in bulk.

There's nothing better than a tall glass of cold milk, right? But, beyond drinking, milk has so many uses! Make chocolate milk or hot chocolate. Pour it over granola. Make a cream sauce or creamy soup. Or, use it for baking.

Another option is to level up your dairy game and make your own dairy products at home. With our non-homogenized milk, you can separate the cream and then make whipped cream or ice cream. Or, you can ferment it into yogurt, kefir, or cheese!

What are your milk safety standards?
Milk safety is a top priority. Although it's not required for raw pet milk, Miller's Bio Farm is certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for raw milk production and bottling for humans in PA. We also go above and beyond what's "required" for that certification by testing every batch of milk on site for general bacteria counts.

What does the "best by" date mean exactly?
The best by date is an estimate for when the milk will likely become too sour to palate. It may start souring before that, but we're kinda guaranteeing it won't be too terribly sour before that date.

Is soured raw milk safe to consume?
Raw milk is a living food that naturally ferments. It will do it more quickly on the counter and more slowly in the fridge. The living microbiology is eating the lactose (milk sugar) and producing lactic acid, which is sour. The more it ferments, the more probiotic it becomes! Sour milk is not an indicator of milk safety. It's really just a palatability issue.

What breed are your cows?
Our small herds are 80% Jersey and 20% Jersey crosses Jersey/Guernsey, Jersey/Brown Swiss, Jersey/Holstein, etc.

How do you know with certainty that the cows produce A2/A2 milk?
We do a genetic test via hair sample on each of our cows. The results tell us if a cow produce A1/A1, A1/A2, or A2/A2 milk. All of our cows are A2/A2 and produce milk with 100% A2 beta-casein protein.

Our raw milk is made simply and is never heated or altered in any way. Here's how we do it:
1. The cows are milked using old fashioned pneumatic milkers.
2. The milk is poured into the bulk tank to cool down quickly.
3. We bottle the milk to order the day before or the day we pack it for you.

The milk is packaged in HDPE plastic, which is the most environmentally stable of all plastics. It does not contain BPA, phthalates, heavy metals, harmful fumes, or allergens. But all plastic has the potential to leach chemicals.
