Tallow isn’t new on the skincare scene, it’s actually an ancient beauty hack that’s been around for thousands of years.

Somewhere along the way (when fat in general got a bad rap), tallow got ghosted. But turns out, grandma was onto something, modern science is now giving tallow a big ol’ “glow up.” Why? Because its fat profile is basically a mirror match for our skin cells, making it super skin-friendly. Bonus: 100% grass-fed, pastured tallow is loaded with goodies like vitamins A, D, E, K, plus CLA's, a nutrient lineup your skin will happily drink up.

It's the ultimate vitamin packed skincare!

Grass‑fed tallow is packed with fatty acids that nourish, heal, and shield your skin. Like:

  • Palmitic Acid: Helps strengthen the skin’s barrier and seal in moisture to keep skin hydrated and soft.
  • Stearic Acid: Supports the skin surface by reinforcing its protective lipid layer and promoting elasticity.

  • Oleic Acid: Aids in nutrient absorption and has calming, anti‑inflammatory effects on irritated skin.

  • It's also loaded with fat-soluble vitamins, each contributing to skin repair and protection in different ways:

  • Vitamin A: Promotes cell turnover and supports the formation of healthy skin tissue.
  • Vitamin D: Fortifies the skin barrier and aids in repairing skin cells.

  • Vitamin E: Functions as an antioxidant, shielding skin cells from oxidative damage.

  • Vitamin K: Helps accelerate healing and supports skin elasticity.

  • So what is tallow, really? It’s simply rendered fat.

Sounds a little wild, but it’s simply melted suet (the fat around organs) and fat trim from around the whole cow, strained, and cooled. The result? A solid, shelf-stable fat that’s waxy, silky, and totally skin-loving. Just remember: quality counts. Whatever goes into the animal ends up in the fat, so always look for 100% grass-fed sources—like the ones from Miller’s Bio Farm.

And here’s a fun fact: it’s technically edible. (Though we recommend feeding your skin first.)

From sunburns to diaper rash, eczema to acne, or just general glow maintenance, tallow is basically your skin’s new bestie. This balm is so gentle, it’s basically a hug in a jar. Safe for babies, bearded dads, and everyone in between, it’s the skincare sidekick your bathroom shelf has been missing.

So next time your skin acts up, don’t have a cow—just grab the balm that’s whipped, wild, and wonderfully weird (in the best way).

Cheap beef is coming to the US, but where is it actually coming from?

Beef is more expensive than it's ever been, and the government's answer is to flood the market with hundreds of millions of pounds of imported beef. But "cheaper" comes with a question no price tag will answer: where did this beef actually come from? Here's what's really driving prices, why importing won't fix it, and how you can put beef on your table that you can trace.

Why your milk should be a little yellow and what it has to do with your eyes

Pour our raw milk next to the grocery store stuff and you'll spot it immediately: ours is golden. That color isn't food dye or a fluke, it's lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids your eyes depend on and your body can't make on its own. So we sent both milks to a third-party lab at Utah State. The store-bought grass-fed milk came back with zero lutein. Not less. None. In this post, we get into where that pigment comes from, why heat and skimming wipe it out, and how to check your own cream line at the kitchen window.

We sent our grass-fed raw milk to a university lab. Here's how it compared.

We've always believed that real food should be able to stand on its own, no marketing fluff required. So this spring, we did something we find deeply satisfying: we sent our milk to an independent lab and asked them to tell us exactly what's in it. Not just our milk, either. We tested three milks side by side, ours, a grain-supplemented raw A2/A2 milk from another farm, and one of the most widely available organic pasteurized milks on the market. We wanted an honest picture, and that's exactly what we got.
