8oz - Raw First Milking A2/A2 Colostrum for Cats & Dogs (Glass)

Raw Cow, Frozen

Often called "golden milk". Packed with nutrients (lactoferrin and hemopexin) protecting the immune system, our colostrum is the first milk from cows soon after birth. From the 1st milking. Depending on the cow, it may have more colostrum or more milk content. Never heated or altered in any way.

*Net Wt: 6oz

Our raw colostrum for cats & dogs should last 1 year in the freezer. Once thawed, it should last 7-10 days in the fridge. You can also thaw and freeze small portions in ice cube trays. But, of course, once it's opened there are so many variables that can affect shelf life (time out of the fridge, contaminants getting in, etc).

Pour into a bowl for you cat or dog to lap up. Can also be poured on top of or stirred into kibble or wet food. Or, freeze on a lick mat or as a popsicle for a cooling treat.

It's recommended to start colostrum slowly, since you don't know how you cat or dog's body will react (it can be powerful stuff). Most people start with a teaspoon or tablespoon per day and work their way up.

For supplementing, most people feed 1-2oz per day. However, keep in mind that you can't OD on colostrum. You can technically feed as much as you like.

*Dairy shouldn't be a staple food for dogs and cats. Being carnivores, raw meat is their essential food. Use dairy as a treat or mix in with their other food for a limited period.

Why raw colostrum for cats & dogs?
We believe that your whole family should get the best quality, most nutrient-dense, safest foods available. That’s why our pet food is made in the same way that we would prepare food for ourselves - with the highest quality farming standards, a straightforward process, and extreme attention to detail.

What are your milk safety standards?
Milk safety is a top priority. Although it's not required for raw pet milk, Miller's Bio Farm is certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for raw milk production and bottling for humans in PA.

What is colostrum?
Colostrum is the first milk a cow produces after giving birth. It's thick, yellowish-white, and sticky, and usually has a rich, golden color. Colostrum is often called "liquid gold" because of its value to babies and its many benefits.

What about the calf? Does it get colostrum?
Yes, of course! The calf always gets first dibs (after all, colostrum is super important for a baby's natural health in the beginning of life). We are taking extra colostrum from the cow after the calf has had its fill.

What's the difference between the 1st milking colostrum and 2nd/3rd milking colostrum?
The 1st milking colostrum is from the very first milking after a cow gives birth. It should be thicker and have more health benefits.

The 2nd/3rd milking colostrum is from the 2nd and 3rd milkings after a cow gives birth. It will be a bit thinner and lighter in color and usually has slightly less health benefits when compared to 1st milking colostrum.

Is the colostrum consistent from batch to batch?
Nope. Every cow is different and may produce different shades and thicknesses of colostrum. Plus, the time between when a cow gives birth and the first milking will vary. For example, if a cow gives birth at 4am, then it will be milked an hour later at 5pm and have thicker 1st milking colostrum. But, if a cow gives birth at 10pm, just after the farmer goes to bed, then it will wait until the morning to be milked and have a bit thinner 1st milking colostrum.

When your colostrum goes out of stock, how do I know when will it be back?
Colostrum is such a hard product to predict. Cows freshen all the time, but it's hard to say whether they'll produce enough to sell. The calf always gets first dibs. Then, when it does become available, it typically sells out quickly.

There is no waiting list. There is no notification system for colostrum coming back in stock. Your best bet is to order it when it's available or, if it's out of stock, check back weekly to see if it's available.

Our raw colostrum is made simply and is never heated or altered in any way. Here's how we do it:
1. The cows are milked using old fashioned pneumatic milkers.
2. The colostrum is bottled and cooled down immediately.
3. It's frozen the same day it's milked.
