Need the Nitty Gritty Details?

+
Our raw sour cream for cats & dogs should last about 2-3 weeks after you receive it. But, of course, once it's opened there are so many variables that can affect shelf life (time out of the fridge, contaminants getting in, etc).

Make sure to keep your sour cream in the back of the fridge on the bottom shelf. That's where the temperatures stay cool and consistent, creating the ideal environment to maintain the freshness of your sour cream. By keeping it at the back, away from any temperature fluctuations, you're ensuring that every scoop remains as delicious as the first!

Can I freeze sour cream?
We don’t recommend freezing sour cream. The consistency will change a lot. It will likely separate and become clumpy or grainy, which may not be the best eating experience for your furry family.
+
Spoon into a bowl for you cat or dog to lap up. Can also be poured on top of or stirred into kibble or wet food. Or, freeze on a lick mat for a cooling treat.

*Dairy shouldn't be a staple food for dogs and cats. Being carnivores, raw meat is their essential food. Use dairy as a treat or mix in with their other food for a limited period.

Why raw sour cream for cats & dogs?
We believe that your whole family should get the best quality, most nutrient-dense, safest foods available. That’s why our pet food is made in the same way that we would prepare food for ourselves - with the highest quality farming standards, a straightforward process, and extreme attention to detail.

What are your milk safety standards?
Milk safety is a top priority. Although it's not required for raw pet milk, Miller's Bio Farm is certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for raw milk production and bottling for humans in PA. We also go above and beyond what's "required" for that certification by testing every batch of milk on site for general bacteria counts.

The sour cream is watery on top. What should I do?
Separation raw sour cream is perfectly normal. You simply need to stir to recombine.

How long is it fermented for?
Our sour cream is fermented overnight for about 12 hours.
+
Our sour cream is made simply:
1. We warm our raw, 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised milk for cats & dogs to room temperature.
2. A touch of freeze dried culture is mixed in.
3. Into the culturing room it goes! The sour cream stays there for 12 hours at no more than 110°F.
4. After a final stir, it's all set to be bottled.
+
The freeze dried culture used to make this product is bought in. May contain a trace amount of maltodextrin.
