Macadamia nuts should last about 3 months at room temp, stored in a dark dry place (like a cabinet or drawer). They can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer for up to 6 months. But, of course, once the bag is opened there are so many variables that can affect shelf life (temperature, moisture or contaminants getting in, etc).

Macadamia nuts are delicious on their own, and keeping them in their raw state preserves max health benefits. They're also a favorite with cooks because of their many and varied uses. They add crunch, texture, and earthy notes to both sweet and savory dishes. Most nuts are old so have to be roasted and heavily salted to hide the rancid flavors. Ours are harvested 2x per month and processed with care, dehydrated with an innovate low and slow method that preserves all the benefits of raw. 

Do macadamia nuts have health benefits?
Yes, absolutely! Our macadamia nuts are regeneratively grown in Hawaii with organic methods, resulting in max nutrition and no toxins. Macadamia nuts are lowest in enzyme inhibitors such as phytic acid. They are also an excellent source of the omega-7 fat, palmitoleic acid. This fat-hormone can block inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity, and increase the feeling of being full.

Why do the macadamia nuts taste like peppers?
That's because you haven't had a real natural macadamia nut before. Most macadamia nuts aren't harvested at the right time and are roasted and seasoned and salted. This removes their natural flavor. Because ours are properly harvested and slowly dehydrated, you get all the flavor that's naturally in the nut. The flavors will change from batch to batch, but most common flavor undertone you will detect is yummy peppers (like bell peppers).

Our macadamia nuts are different than any old macadamia nut in the store. This is because of the extreme care in processing them so their raw health benefits are maintained:
1. Our nuts are harvested 2x per month for the freshest nuts possible.
2. After harvesting, the nuts are lightly dried in the shell. 
3. The shells are cracked open and the creamy kernel is separated from the hard shell.
4. The kernel is dehydrated low and slow at 107 degrees for 7 days to preserve the crucial enzymes, raw fats, and flavors.
