Apple Pork Burgers w/ Gouda and Horseradish Cream Sauce
Juicy, sweet, and full of character, these apple pork burgers redefine what a gourmet burger can be. Ground pork infused with grated apple, garlic, and cumin creates a perfectly seasoned patty that’s tender and flavorful with every bite. As the burgers sizzle, the natural sweetness of the apple enhances the savory richness of the pork, while melty gouda adds a smooth, smoky finish.

Caramelize The Onion

  1. Add butter to a pan on medium heat. Once it is melted, add the onion slices and stir to coat the onion with the butter. Spread the onion out evenly over the pan and let cook, stirring occasionally. This takes about 35-40 minutes. 

Horseradish Cream Sauce

  1. Whisk together Dijon mustard, prepared horseradish, sour cream and a  dash of salt and pepper. Set aside and let chill in the fridge.

Burgers

  1. In a medium bowl, add the ground pork, grated apples, salt, pepper, garlic, cumin and mix well.
  2. Form the burger mixture into 6 equal patties, roughly the width of the buns. They will shrink a bit when cooked.
  3. Heat olive oil on a large grill pan to medium heat and cook the burgers about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the pork is cooked through.
  4. Top with gouda cheese and cover. Cook another minute to allow the cheese to melt.
  5. Place the burgers on a plate and let rest for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Toast the buns while the burgers are resting.
  7. Assemble the burger. Top each burger with an apple slice, a dollop of Horseradish Cream Sauce and the caramelized onion mixture.

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
