Healthy Eggnog
Eggnog is an old fashioned drink, a very old fashioned drink. Originally used medicinally, it's now a well known fancy holiday beverage. Store-bought options are often loaded with additives, a ridiculous amount of sugar, and less than 2% egg yolks. Why not make it at home with healthy farm-direct ingredients? After all, it's quick and easy and festive!

To Make Raw Eggnog

  1. Whisk the ingredients together. Done!

To Make Cooked Eggnog

  1. Whisk the ingredients together in a pot.
  2. Put on the stove over medium heat. Stir occasionally when cooler and more often when hotter.
  3. Bring to a simmer. Remove from heat. Serve warm or cold.


To get a fuller eggnog, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Then add the other ingredients.

To get a frothy eggnog, beat 4 egg whites until soft peaks form. Then stir into your finished eggnog.

To be extra festive, serve topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. And, hey, why not add a candy cane, too?
